Complex Trauma happens with individuals who have multiple sources or a single source of trauma over a long period of time, typically occuring in childhood. There are long-term psychological effects resulting from tramatic experiences that impact current relational, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
Examples of Complex Trauma: parental substance abuse or long term incarceration of a parent, childhood neglect or abandonment, chronic illness of self or a caregiver, and witnessing domestic violence.
The Complex Trauma Program is designed for teens and adults seeking healing and growth.
We have two different models for complex trauma counseling that are empirically based: 12 Star and EMDR.
If you are interested in complex trauma services, we invite you to contact us to discuss clinical fit, goals, and availability. Intake, informed consent, and clinical screening are required prior to participation.

Complex Trauma Services Notice
Complex Trauma services are provided exclusively by licensed mental health professionals who have been trained in the trauma models.
Clients experiencing an active crisis or requiring a higher level of care may be referred to appropriate services.
We have two different models for complex trauma counseling that are empirically based. EMDR is used with our adult population.
Strategic Trauma – Abuse and Recovery (12 STR)
Eye Movement Desentation and Reprocessing (EMDR)
This model helps adults identify sources of trauma in their life, reach safety and stabilization by developing healthy boundaries and healthy coping skills, working through the trauma story, identifying unhealthy beliefs and interupretations, replacing survival responses, inventory of losses from the trauma, understanding Godly forgiveness, and celebrating spiritual and personal growth throughout the process.
EMDR includes history taking of client’s life, preparation for trauma work including developing healthy coping skills and boundaries, working through traumatic memories to help them move into the adaptive brain. EMDR reprocessing enables the client to find closure or resolution with the trauma.
Being a Christian, who was called into the counseling field, I realized early on that a person’s spiritual growth is the most important piece of recovery and healing through therapy. After several years of working in the field, I felt a need to be able to address this component freely, which I could not do in the secular field. I work with females and children covering topics such as trauma, grief, adoption/foster concerns, behavioral issues and emotional wellness. I see clients in Baxley, Douglas, and via google meet.
We are a homeschooling family of four who enjoy gardening, spending time with wonderful friends, playing games at home, or finding a good hiking trail.
My favorite Bible verse is Lamentations 3:21-24
“This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope. It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: Great is thy faithfulness. The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.”

Every person will at some point have at least one potentially traumatic experience, but this doesn’t impact everyone in the same ways. When struggling to process and move on from negative life experiences, therapy offers a powerful method of finding support and healing.
Individual counseling can help overcome the sometimes overwhelming fear and hopelessness by helping you better understand the conditions that led to the emotional brokenness you are experiencing, and applying healthy coping skills against them.
